Looking Forward

When Jesus comes back, will you be ready?

Let's pretend that it's a normal day at home or in the office at work. Or maybe you're on vacation somewhere awesome, having a great time, and God decides that it's "The Day." It's the day he's set aside for the judgement and destruction of ungodly people. (2 Peter 3:7, Matt 24:35-36, Rev 20:11-15,)

What would Jesus find you doing? What spiritual state would he find you in?

Would he know you? Matt 25:11-13

Peter describes it happening in this way: "But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything in it will be laid bare." 2 Peter 3:10

Are you looking forward to this day?

I am. Oh God, how I am. I can't even look at the headlines in the news without hoping he'll come back soon. Hearing stories of sex scandals, child molestation, and the slaughter of innocent people around the world is sickening. How I long for The Day. While we wait, however, Peter plainly lays out the condition we should be in as believers:

"So then, dear friends, since you are looking forward to this, make every effort to be found spotless, blameless and at peace with him." 2 Peter 3:14

"His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness." 2 Peter 2:3

So how about you? Are you looking forward to the day?

Will he find you ready?
